Dr. David E. Fishman

David E. Fishman is a professor of Jewish History at the Jewish Theological Seminary teaching courses in Modern Jewish history. He is the author of numerous books and articles on the history and culture of East European Jewry. His book, The Book Smugglers, was the winner of the National Jewish Book Award in the Holocaust category in 2017. The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research archival collections provided an important primary source for accurately documenting the dramatic events that saved Jewish treasures from the Nazis.
